Covers Galore (Inkspell Publishing Books)!

Hollywood Ever After by Sasha Summers

Synopsis:

She wasn’t meant for movie stars, Hollywood, or happy endings. And then she met him.

Happy Endings are for fairy tales. Or the movies. Not for real life. At least, not in Claire’s life. Even though she’s starting over, she knows better than to want too much this time. But when she falls, literally, into the strong arms of Hollywood’s ‘it’ boy Josh Wiley, Claire’s in for some surprises. Her plans for rest and relaxation are forgotten as one incredible night with Josh becomes two… And her heart begins to want him as much as her body. Will two kids, one bastard ex-husband, and Josh’s juggernaut career mean the end of their affair? Or can Claire find her happy ending after all?

My Comments:

This was one hard cover. I went through so many versions to get it right and when I did, it came out perfectly.

Frozen Heart by Annabelle Blume

Synopsis:

A decade surviving on her own.
Three days with the enemy.
Can love conquer all?

Cressenda knows how to survive. With her sled dogs as her only companions, she’s spent the past ten years hiding in the snow covered wilderness from the oppressive regime of the Affinity. When a routine trip to civilization takes a turn for the worst, Cressenda is forced to take refuge with the enemy or lose her life to the frozen countryside.

But Beckett, a Guard of the Affinity, is more than a man in uniform. His desperate need to help Cressenda escape both- the blizzard and the Affinity- makes her feelings for him all the more troubling. Will Beckett be true to his word and set Cressenda free? Will her heart let her leave after all they’ve shared?

My Comments:

I got this cover right the first time. Just a few changes to the model and the entire thing was done and done. When the story behind the cover is simple, a designer can pull off the cover quickly.

Life & Death of Lily Drake by T. Michelle Nelson

Synopsis:

For Lily Drake, slaying vampires is easy...Dating them is the hard part.

Lily Drake is your everyday hard-working single mom…until a gorgeous vampire shows up on her front door who she mistakenly assumes is her blind date for the evening. As one crazy scenario after another unfolds, Lily finds herself falling in love with two vampires, slaying the evil ones, and being prophesied as the savior of the entire undead race.
Deciding between pizza and Chinese take-out will no longer be one of the hard decisions facing Lily Drake once she is immersed into vampire society. Humanity or immortality? That doesn't hold a candle against this question - which of the two handsome vampire cousins?

The Life and Death of Lily Drake is not your typical vampire love story. It’s a tale about the humorous mistakes a woman makes simply trying to survive not only life, but the dating scene. How will Lily manage working full-time, taking care of her young son and fighting the undead at every turn?
Lily will have to figure it out, but who better to save the world than a mom?

My Comments:

Another extremely difficult cover. The issue here was the model. In general, finding the right model stock is difficult when theres a limit. Not all stock sites have the poses you'll need. So creativity and lots of help from Inkspell helped me finish this cover.

What do you guys think of the new covers? I have a few more coming in. I'm just waiting for their release dates to post them up. :D

New Cover : Tiger Lily by Kirsten Lincoln

Tiger Lily by K. Bird Lincoln

Synopsis of book:

Lily wasn’t supposed to be in the woods. The Daimyo’s men were fighting nearby, but it was either snare rabbits or starve. She wasn’t supposed to talk to nobility, either, but when she found the Daimyo’s son, Ashikaga, dying in the gorseberry brush, she had to do something. Most of all, Lily was never, ever supposed to sing the forbidden Jindo songs of her long-gone mother. When the Pretender Emperor’s men return to pursue the wounded noble, and Ashikaga can’t seem to fight them off, Lily sings a forbidden song.

The song wakes the local kami, and also Ashikaga’s interest. He has hidden secrets of his own and a burning desire to prove himself to his father. He will stop at nothing to defeat the Pretender Emperor and his men, even if it means using Lily’s forbidden songs in his fight. All Lily wants to do is take care of her sisters and brother. Can Lily defy her father, Ashikaga, and even the kami in order to save all those she loves? Or will the powerful feelings she gets when Ashikaga is near draw her into inescapable danger?

Designer's Comments:

This cover didn't take me long. Though the longest thing I did to the cover was changing the model's outfit from a chinese traditional one to a peasant japanese kimono. Special thanks to Marcus J. Ranum for his amazing model stock photos. Thanks!

New Cover Designs!

Want by Stephanie Lawton
Publisher : Inkspell Publishing

Julianne counts the days until she can pack her bags and leave her old-money, tradition-bound Southern town where appearance is everything and secrecy is a way of life. A piano virtuoso, she dreams of attending a prestigious music school in Boston. Failure is not an option, so she enlists the help of New England Conservatory graduate Isaac Laroche to help her.

She can’t understand why he suddenly gave up Boston’s music scene to return to the South. He doesn’t know her life depends on escaping it. Julianne must face down madness from without, just as it threatens from within. Isaac must resist an inappropriate attraction, but an indiscretion at a Mardi Gras ball—the pinnacle event for Mobile’s elite—forces their present wants and needs to collide with sins of the past.

My Comments: This was one of my favorite covers to do. It was simple and every elegant composition.

Call of the Sea by Rebecca Hart
Publisher : Inkspell Publishing
Goodreads

With cursed selkie blood coursing through his veins, Daniel O'Rourke needs the sea to survive. After giving up on his humanity and spending three years in seal form, he decides to give his human side another chance. Daniel searches for a sense of normalcy and a job, earning himself a position aboard Captain Winter’s ship, The Surf Runner. However, his new captain’s first assignment has nothing to do with sailing, and everything to do with his headstrong young daughter.

Elysandra Winters has always yearned for a life of adventure on the rolling seas and is willing to do whatever it takes to fulfill her dream. When her Privateer father continually refuses to allow his only daughter to sail, Ellie defies him, disguises herself as a boy, and goes in search of a captain who will give her a chance to prove her worth.

Years later, when Captain Winters is murdered by the leader of a band of bloodthirsty pirates, Daniel and Elysandra’s lives come crashing back together with the force of a hurricane. Both experts in deception, they must find a way to open their hearts and trust each other if they have any hope of hunting down the captain’s killer. And find a way to quell the raging storm between them.

My Comments: This one was one of the funniest ones to do! Special shout out to the model (mizzd-stock.deviantart.com).

Initiation by Imogen Rose
Self-Published

Welcome to Bonfire Academy. Set in the foothills of the alpine mountains in St.Moritz, this exclusive private school caters to a special kind of student. Enter at your own risk... but if you are human, you may not want to enter at all.

This is part one of the prequel series (Bonfire Academy) in the Bonfire Chronicles. Book two, INTEGRATION, will be released summer 2012.

My Comments: This may look like the easiest one to do amongst the three but this was actually the hardest. It was difficult to get the feel of the book all over such a limited space by space I mean the model and the lack of background the stock image has.

New Cover Design: Familiar Ties by Naya Nikki

Familiar Ties
by Naya Nikki
Inkspell Publishing

Blurb:

Max West is a widower raising Phoebe, his four-year-old daughter. Phoebe has to live with the fact that the day she was born is also the day of her mother's death. As her fifth year without her mother approaches, Phoebe finds solace in her godmother, Amy Riley, and her daughter, Grace Crawford, another single parent family.

Amy Riley is a successful fashion designer who spends most of her days raising her four-year-old daughter, Grace, while her wayward boyfriend is travelling the world making the next best film. As the fifth year without her best friend looms she finds comfort in her ex-boyfriend, Max, and his daughter, Phoebe.

These two “broken” families have a tough week to face as the dreaded day approaches. However through their past, present and debatable future will their choices affect the outcome both parents clearly want and are simply denying? Or will Phoebe and Grace lose the only “whole” family they have ever known?

This is one of the most hardest covers I've ever designed.
